Recently The College of San Mateo teamed up with Alpine Awards to install a brand new outdoor Athletic Hall of Fame Plaza. The college enrolled the use of an architect to design the project and contracted with Alpine Awards to provide the bronze castings of all the lettering and recognition plaques.
Alpine Awards also supplied individual Bulldog Sculpture awards to notable CSM Athletics alumni and Bulldog Hall of Fame inductees such as:
- Archie Williams US Olympian gold medalist – Berlin 1936
- Bill Walsh – Professional football coach and
- John Madden – Professional football coach, football announcer
- Bill Ring SF 49ers fullback in the 1980’s with two super bowl rings
among others.
The Hall of Fame plaza consists of three concrete pillars with cast bronze title plates and individual recognition awards. There is plenty of room for future inductees.
The individual awards are sculptured Bulldogs 7” tall and 7” wide. Each one was personalized with the inductee’s name and the year of induction into the San Mateo Athletic Hall of Fame.
One pillar lists all the sports available at the College of San Mateo. Each sport is cast in bronze.
Teams that achieved great success are memorialized in bronze castings with their sport and year of achievement.

This close-up illustrates the quality and durability of the cast bronze plates. Cast Bronze is a traditional outdoor plaque. It resists all types of weather conditions, ultraviolet sunlight and will last for decades if not centuries. The bronze can be fashioned in various sizes and shapes depending on the project.
